TikTok has enjoyed enormous growth ever since its release in 2016 and since then has amassed over 732 million active users, making it the 7th most popular social media platform in the world. The app is based on a strong algorithm which ensures that users only see videos that match their interest.

TikTok has a young userbase, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s not of any value for real estate agents, as you can use it to reach a much younger and tech savvy audience. But how can you use the power of Tik Tok to give you an advantage?

TikTok is a social media platform where users share short-form videos. We’ve all seen the viral TikTok dances and comedy sketches. Each user has their own For You page, where the algorithm recommends videos based on your behaviour. Nothing goes unnoticed by the algorithm: how long you watch certain videos, whether you like them or not… The For You page will only show things you’ll really like to keep you engaged.

The power of TikTok lies within the algorithm. It works in such a way that you only get to see videos in which you are interested. So if you publish real estate videos and they get recommended to people, you are sure these people will be interested in that content.

Agents using TikTok for marketing is definitely a thing. For some this might come as a surprise, but real estate TikTok is big. Heider Real Estate for example has a whopping 2.8 million followers and a total of 38.1 million likes. This means that when they publish a listing on TikTok, they reach millions of people due to their high number of followers. Essentially they give virtual tours of houses which they sell.

Some do it by providing value for other real estate agents. Glennda Baker is an American real estate agent with over 400k followers. She gives real estate agents relevant market insights coming from a successful agency and by creating these videos, she solidifies herself as a very knowledgeable and trustworthy agent.

Elddie Real Estate is another big real estate hit on TikTok. He has over 550k followers and has a total of 7.4 million likes on his videos. Unlike Hieder and Glennda he doesn’t share luxurious mansions or tips and tricks on how to become a better agent. He shares the houses he has in his portfolio to find potential buyers.

Maybe you are like Sunil Saxena and have lots of knowledge about investing in real estate. There definitely is a market for this too. Even though it is quite a niche subject, he has over 600k followers.

Tiktok’s strength is the same as other social platforms, like Instagram. They don’t directly help you sell property but they do support you indirectly, by increasing your people’s awareness of your brand by bringing you front of mind. Helping you to become leaders in the market.

Most people know how important awareness is. And if you don’t, think of a car manufacturer that makes electric vehicles. Tesla will most likely be top of the list. Ideally, when people think of real estate, they think of you.
